To get started, pleaseupload a photo or avatar for yourself (if you haven’t already.) Whether it's of you, your dog, your racquet it doesn't matter, but it helps people remember you. You can also personalize Your Page with pictures, links, RSS feeds, colors and more here.
If you are looking to meet people for tennis matches, Join the group in your area and introduce yourself in there. Some groups have regular meeting times and some are more one-on-one and flexible. Tennisopolis is also a great place to network with people all across the country and talk about this game we love.
Other places to explore: come talk tennis in the forum, add your own photos, post your own blog entries.
hey question. im new to this and live in the williamsburg area. how do i go about playing on the mccarren courts/lower east side courts. do i need to buy a permit or something. is it free? does it get really crowded? which court is better? thanks for your help
The courts around NY are free up to April 5th. I just played at McCarren and nobody was checking the permits... however, they are more diligent in the LES courts. They will probably, sometime soon, start looking at permits at McCarren too.
You can get the permit at a paragon store. There is one on Union Square. You buy individual tickets that cost about $8/day or a yearly pass $100 for the year. You can find all the public courts listed online.
I personally like the courts on LES. They have just been renovated and there are 12 of them. There is usually a line to get in when the weather is nice, specially if you can't play during off hours. You cannot make reservations so if the courts are full you need to wait. The courts are usually available for one hour, if you haven't finished your game - too bad, you still need to get out!
I would be interested in hitting. Its been a while since I played so I am a bit rusty. Would be down in Brooklyn or where ever, especially since its nice out now.
Hi Kesley, I'm looking to starting playing at McCarren Park but also really like the LES courts and would play there. I can play late in the day during the week and anytime on the weekends
Ciao Kesley I'm trying to play back my tennis since I just started again but I was good when young. Would you like to play this Sunday whenever easier for you in Brooklyn?
Thanks ciao
Hi Kesley, I live close to McCarren as well and am always looking for to rally or play a couple games over the weekends. Email me if interested. Cheers. Frederic telfred243 "at" yahoo.com
Hey Kelsey, seems like you have a bunch of people to play with already, but I live close to McCarren too - would love to play if you're still looking for people to hit with. Evenings/weekends are good for me. (oh, and I already have permit!)
Hey Kelsey. I could use some hitting only w/ out service games as to ease back into playing (okay, ease back into shape). I'm pretty good at long rallies, so let me know. I've never hit at MaCarren, but I'd like to check it out. I'm good after 5 during the week.
Hi Kelsey,
I live/work close to Williamsburg so I'd love to play at McCarren with you sometime. I think I 'm about a 3.O rating. I can play anytime. Thanks!
I am in Greenpoint and would be interested in playing at McCarren or elsewhere in Brooklyn. I have not been playing long, but I am reasonably athletic and approach it seriously enough to have a desire to improve. I certainly would be interested in hitting practice and some drills. Though I suspect you may be at a higher level than me, let me know if you would be interested.
I just joined this tennis meetup group...so you're the first person I am emailing :) ... but I am interested in playing tennis for fun and to get some good exercise....I live relatively close to Prospect Park so I can meet there or MaCarren Park as well... I'm a 25 year old girl. E-mail me if you would be interested in playing. :) Thanks! Agatha (agata.kijek@gmail.com)
Just joined the site a few days ago... let me know if your interested in playing anytime soon. I'm in town this weekend if your available... mornings are better for me. I live in the Bay Ridge area, but am willing to travel your way.... as far as my level... I currently play in a 3.0 league, I have some matches coming up and would love to get some practice in... Gimme a shout if your interested. ryan_altonen@yahoo.com
Thanks, Ryan
I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn and have no problem traveling to play. I'm a teacher so this week, and all summer, I have lots of time. I used to be decent but am a little rusty. Let me know if you're interested.
