That is awsome that you will be teaching at Newks that was the best job I have ever had. I taught there when I graduated high school back in 2000. You will have an awsome time and meet a lot of great people.

Hi John! It's great to have you here!
We need a Tenis Racquet Stringer Group (or a teaching pros group too), click that link to start it.
Please Invite your buddies. We’re trying to reach 20,000 members by Wimbledon.
If you need any help, let me know.

We are all very excited to have created this "community-based" tennis website which puts the focus on the members.

To get started, please upload a photo or avatar for yourself (if you haven’t already.) Whether it's of you, your dog, your racquet it doesn't matter, but it helps people remember you. You can also personalize Your Page with pictures, links, RSS feeds, colors and more here.

If you are looking to meet people for tennis matches, Join the group in your area and introduce yourself in there. Some groups have regular meeting times and some are more one-on-one and flexible. If there’s no group in your area yet, start a group page for your town and invite your tennis contacts. It's a good place to keep in touch with everyone in your circle.

Tennisopolis is also a great place to network with people all across the country and talk about this game we love.

Other places to explore: come talk tennis in the forum, add your own photos, post your own blog entries.

…and just hang out and meet great people.

    Welcome aboard,
    Mark

Hey its cool that you are on here and giving lessons and stuff

When I was working it was $200 a week free room and board and there was the oppurtunity you may want to take advantage of where you can make extra cash staying on Saturday nights to watch campers that will be there multiple weeks. They also needed some extra people to teach adult classes every now and then on weekends you could make like an extra $100 or so. If you have a stringer take it you can make some cash stringing for other pro's and campers but you have to keep that on the D/L because it takes from the pro shops income. Phil is always busy he is a pretty intense and awsome guy. I assume he is the same as he was and will make you feel like you can do anything because he isn't getting any younger and still does all the sprints, lines, hills, with every group. I don't know how long you plan to stay but I would stay as long as possible. I look back and wish I didn't leave when I did. You will have the oppurtunity to play with ex pro's and several div. 1 college players. The hardest part of your entire summer will be staying away from all the hot girls new, ones every week. They don't look or act like they are 15-16 yrs old and can get you in trouble. Any other questions feel free to ask I love talking about that place.

Where did you play in High School? I grew up in Las Cruces and played my Junior year at New Mexico Military Institute.

Cool Group - I think you got the hang of it! Definitely start a string traders thread in there. I know there are lots of other stringers on this site. See if you can search for them and invite them to the group and tell them about the trading thread.

I always came back to Austin on the weekends but that was just because my girlfriend was in Austin. You will always be able to find things to do some of the pro's party some go out to eat and San Antonio/Austin are very close so they are always fun to visit as well. That is more on the weekends though because you will have campers you are resposible for during the week. You will meet some good conections you will want to keep in touch with that might help you with your teaching profession in the future. That will be awsome if you can play for TJC they used to have an awsome tennis program I am sure it is still very good.

hey John, I just read your profile. I was in the Tech program in Tyler. It is a good program, though I didn't finish. I left to go to a different school and also started working, different career. Have fun at Newks this summer.

you should be able to try out for the team. they have some solid players, mostly foreign, but call the coach (Petersen) and chat with him. You should have no problem doing tech and playing on the team, but also doing some teaching may conflict. You could teach on the off season of the team though i guess. Tyler tennis and swim is a nice public facility you could try and teach at. But also, you could hold your own privates at the TJC courts if you advertised yourself. We taught a few clinics through TJC to the other college students.
