Does anyone know if there are any hitting walls near any of the courts in St. Pete?  I'd like to be able to practice my strokes when I can't find a partner.  Preferably walls that are lighted would be great, since it gets dark early, but that's just me being picky.

Hello Azalea park  7200  22nd ave N   close to Tyrone square mall has a backboard you can use its actually a raquet ball court.

Woodlawn off 16 street 1450.... has a couple walls.

Puryear park 5701 lee street NE  has a few backboards   These are a few locations in St Pete not sure if they all are lighted though

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot.  I'm going to go check them out now.  I hate it when the urge to hit strikes you at random times.

Northshore also has a small wall but the racquetball courts at Puryear are your best bet.

Btw have you though about joining a league? Ultimate tennis league starts up again in Feb I think

I ended up hitting at Woodlawn.  It is lighted well.  How do you go about joining a tennis league?

Hi Christina,

Welcome, I have always had a good league experience with ultimatetennis.com, just go check out the site, you can join for free, only pay if you register to play. It is another great way to find additional playing/hitting partners, especially of similar skill level. Also, I'm someone that doesn't mind being contacted about short notice tennis. Need help or have questions feel free to contact me.

Jumping in here late but St. Pete Tennis Center has a hitting wall on its hard courts, which are free to the public. Has lights also as well as a manned pro shop.

Check out www.stpetetennis.com for a full list of public tennis courts in Pinellas County
