Looking for people to hit with in the walnut creek/danville/san ramon area. I've never been officially rated but I'd guess I'm somewhere around 3.5. I'm usually available mon/wed/fri nights as well as the weekends. All ages/skill levels welcome, as long as you can keep up a rally for more than a couple seconds =P

Permalink Reply by Sandy on May 25, 2012 at 12:59pm Hi Chris: I usually play at Larkey Park in WC; what time can you play MWF evenings? It stays light now up to around 8pm; can you start at 6pm?
Permalink Reply by Chris Randall on May 25, 2012 at 2:27pm Hey there Sandy,
I am available this wednesday at 6 if that works for you. If light's an issue, there are also some lighted courts by me, but I have no objection to playing in wc.
Permalink Reply by Sandy on May 25, 2012 at 2:34pm Hi Chris: Yes, I can play Wednesday, 5/30 at 6pm; Larkey Park courts should be light until 8pm or so -- why don't we meet there (corner of Buena Vista and 1st Ave.) so we can check it out and then we'll know whether we want to play there in the future or try your courts next time? Let me know if this sounds good; looking forward to playing.

Permalink Reply by Laurie Dahlgren on May 31, 2012 at 11:00am Hi, I've had a difficult time replying to some messages here, but at least got thru this time. Two years ago I was rated as a 4.0 after winning all my matches on a Mixed Doubles over 50 group that played in the last rounds of the semi-finals. I am very athletic (into running too), and in decent shape for playing fun, hard & competitve doubles (pref. mixed) with any group I can find near the Walnut Ck. to Pleasanon area. I live in Alamo but work in Pleasanton. Basically I am looking for the same as you... all ages, skill levels but definitely able to keep up a rally as you said. Mainly I am looking for a little bit competitve/ good fun on the courts.
As I said, I was rated a 4.0, but really think I am about a 3.5 once in the groove again, maybe currently about a 3.3 since I haven't played in about a year after moving and all. Tired of all that, want to get out on the courts & have some fun.
I work m-f til 5:30, so anytime after that and or weekends. I'm also a symphony violinist and plan on playing with some local symphonies (rehearsing) on Tues. and Wed. so any week day nights around that would be great for me. Ideally, to play 3 x per week would mean heaven to me.
Please, please put me on a list, and/or get back to me re: when any particular group might be playing so I can join up with whoever else you get to meet to play. My reg. e:mail address is: SKYmusician100@live.com, and/or my phone is 925/273-4717. I've been trying to find a group thru Tennisopolis but haven't had much luck yet. Seems that most people have already established their groups and don't communicate as much on this site.
Glad I found someone else who is trying to get others together to play. Ideally, I'd love be playing with at least 2 courts of doubles going so that there can be some rotation. Playing with different people often, really improves ones game.
Thanks for your efforts in getting something going, & I hope you contact me soon so I can start playing.

Permalink Reply by Sandy on May 31, 2012 at 9:48pm Hi Laurie!
I will make a note of your email/phone and let you know if/when the next 'game' is on. Sounds like the evenings that are good for you are Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and weekends? Pretty much all the people I know seem to be between 3.0 and 4.0 so I think we'd have a good mix. I agree with you that to have a regular session 2-3 times per week would be ideal.
Are you interested in playing some singles too? It's a good way to get more practice, work on strokes, serve, etc., more for practice and fun than competitive. Plus, sometimes it's easier to find two people to play together than it is to find four.
Anyhow, looking forward to meeting you --

Permalink Reply by Kristine Le on June 9, 2012 at 12:50pm Hi Sandy, do add me to the list. I'm about 3.5 and available after 5pm M-F. I have golf on Saturday morning but anytime after that is good. I sometime play at Larkey and Willow Pass courts in Concord. Please email me at kristylecda@yahoo.com and I'll respond with my cell number too.
Thanks! Kristine

Permalink Reply by Sandy on June 18, 2012 at 9:59pm Hi Chris,
Just to let you know that several of us are meeting Tuesday evening, June 19 (tomorrow) at 6pm-ish at Larkey Park courts to play singles/doubles/rally. There might be a couple of new people (2.0-2.5) coming for the first time, and most of us are around 3.0-3.5. Join us if you can!
Also, check out East Bay Tennis Meetup on Meetup.com b/c it has a way for us to announce our meetings and people can RSVP, etc.
Cheers,
Sandy
Permalink Reply by Sandy on June 27, 2012 at 1:43pm Hi Chris,
Did you find the meetup? Just to let you know the next game is scheduled for Thursday, 6pm, at Las Lomas courts in WC, sort of across from Kaiser ER on South Main. Some of us tried it out last night and while the courts are very close together and I guess there isn't much shade, it was otherwise OK. On real hot days we might switch to Larkey Park again.
Hope to see you and your brother whenever you can make it! But get on the meetup website if you can b/c any changes in location, time, cancellations, etc. will be updated there.
Sandy
