Offense: Sports :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offense_%28sports%29
is the action of attacking or engaging an opposing team with the objective of scoring points or goals.
( coachv's take on Offence: Simply Winning the point either for your self or losing the point from missing )
Defense: Sports
is the action of preventing an opponent from scoring. ( CoachV's Take on defense: Preventing the opponent from winning the point and having them keep playing, or the ball simply comes back to the opponent giving them no advantages, also preventing the player from using their weapons. )
Aggressive:
marked by driving forceful energy or initiative; marked by combative readiness; implies a disposition to dominate often in disregard of others' rights or in determined and energetic pursuit of one's ends em>aggressive in his business dealings>.; suggests bold Self-Confidence in expression of opinion < the more assertive speakers dominated the forum >.
( CoachV's Take: Aggressive is not only hard and fast shots. Its a combination of tactics looking for effects/responses. that are parts of strategy. Example you have been running an opponent from doubles line to doubles line 10 times you get a short ball then you hit a drop shot. Which is an offensive shot & aggressive! even though its short/soft or not as intense as the ground strokes. But it may put the opponent in a major disadvantage and also take an emotional & physical toll on them depending on success of the shot. Also think about a pusher never hitting hard but also never missing, this is a highly aggressive tactic by placing all the pressure on the attacker to be successful. )unaggressive / Non-Aggressive
not aggressive; not given to fighting or assertiveness, ; abstention from aggression;
( CoachV's take on Non-Aggressive: lack of fighting power, or lack of will on the ball, or Little options on what you can do to the ball. Its also the Response to a tactic or part of a strategy Example: The opponent hits a hard shot down the line and all you can do it push it back in... but the opponent comes in behind their shot & slams the ball for the win. That's a non-aggressive shot in response to a tactic of your opponent. or you lose focus/confidence/ or become passive and hit a weak or non-aggressive defensive shot that they put away or you simply miss from lack of effort/confidence/will. )

Permalink Reply by Tim Prapong on June 1, 2012 at 10:35am That is a good video of what Novak did in 2011 with Roger and Rafa. But now, Rafa has really flattened out his forehand and also kept Novak in the middle more often. Not as much of a sneaky weapon anymore.
