Recently one of our member has been injured. I was giving that person some advice on what to do at home.
to Practice at home with no one to play with varies with space.
Things to do.:
1. Stretching: Flexibility will improve range of motion & improve Tennis Technique. Helps prevent injury.
2. Downs: Dribbling the ball down will help improve time-ing, Feel and Muscle memory.
3. Up-s and Flippies: improves Volleys, Hand Eye coordination, Ball tracking, getting under the ball and Feel & muscle memory
4. Visualizing / dressing Mirror / Pretending( = all the same thing): Thinking about point of contact, Shadowing your motion in your mind and with your body while looking in a mirror to visualize exactly what you want to do and how to look while doing it. Play out tennis Points with your imagination.
5. Wall
6. Do not test your injures until they have healed completely, Younger player tend to heal faster While me being 32 takes a few days to a week depending on the extent of the injury.
7. Don't feel you have to catch up to lost practice time because of an injury. you might over work yourself and get injured again. Follow these ten Tips and you probably will make an improvement.
8. seek professional advice from a Doctor if an injury last more than a week, there might be something seriously wrong.
9.Ibuprofen and naproxen, There is no shame in taking anti-inflammatory drugs ( do not abuse )
10. Research tennis stuff. I am constantly look for new Ideas, information and tennis online and in magazines and books.

I usually give this as home work to beginner tennis students. But this works as a good way to practice at home

Everyone Check this out if you forget.

11. Youtube is your friend. Study the best.

no. thats wrong. you cannot do what you see on tv. YOu have to do the work. You can get ideas from ONline videos but do not try to replicate. I am able to see the subtle differences in a shot that help me create new ideas on helping players. but its so subtle its like a magic trick. you dont see it but you know its there. & as a magician on the court I know where to look to find the secrets.
