How to keep Score for Beginners

OK Class how is everyone?

Great.

 

Scoring goes as follows: from biggest to smallest

1 MATCH = 2 out of 3 SETS or 3 out of 5 SETS

1 SET = First to 6 GAMES, or win by 2 GAMES

GAMES = first to 4 POINTS Wins the Game or win by 2 POINTS

All EVEN score is on the Right Side, Right Side = Deuce

All ODD score is on the Left Side, Left side = ADvantage

To Find out which side of the court you should be standing on to receive or serve Add your POINTS & the opponents POINTS together. if its ODD Left side, If its EVEN Right Side.

 

Names of the POINTS in a GAME

0 = LOVE

1 = Fifteen

2 = Thirty

3 = Forty

3 - 3 = Deuce

Deuce plus 1 = ADvantage

Advantage plus 1 = GAME

 

so a score of  2 - 3 POINTS in a GAME is Called

is Called Thirty - Forty

 

0 - 4 = GAME

1- 4 = GAME

2 - 4 = GAME

3 - 3 = Deuce

3 - 4 = Advantage

4 - 4 = Deuce

3 - 5 = GAME

5 - 5 = DEUCE, (* NOTE: dont keep counting up just Call DEUCE & ADVANTAGE *)

 

Sample Match

First Set, Game score is 0-0, Player A serves first at 0-0 starting on the right side of the little "T" on the base line.

PLayer A wins the first POINT

Score is

1-0

PLayer B wins the second POINT

1-1

Player B wins the third POINT

1-2

Player B wins the forth POINT

1-3

Player B wins the fifth POINT

1-4 = GAME ( first to 4 points win by two or more.)

IT is a new game now where player B is now serving in the First Set, the Game Score for the First set is 1-0, ( * note Server score goes first * )

PLayer B Start serving the new game at 0-0 POINTS or LOVE ALL

PLAYER A Wins the First POINT

0-1 ( * note Server score goes first * ) or LOVE - fifteen

PLAYER B wins the Second POINT

1-1 or Fifteen ALL

PLAYER B WIns the third POINT

2-1 or thirty - fifteen

player A wins the nest point

2 - 2 or Thirty ALL

PLayer B Win the Next POINT

3-2 or Forty - Thirty

PLAYER A Wins the NEXT POINT

3 - 3 or DEUCE

Player b Win  the next point

4 - 3 or Advantage in ( * advantage or ad in because the Server is IN the Reciever is OUT )

Player A Wins the NEXT POINT

4 - 4 or DEUCE

PLAYER A Wins the next point

4- 5 or AD OUT

PLayer B wins the Next POint

5 - 5 or Deuce

and Goes on forever untill

Player B win the next point

200 - 199 or AD in

PLayer B WIns the Next POINT

201 - 199 = GAME

 

IT IS now Player A turn to serve again the Game score for the first set is Zero game to two or 0 -2
