So its basically a matter of sound and habit.
Dampeners really take the "feel" out of the racquet if they work, at all. If you want a racquet to be forgiving to your wrists and elbows, then I'd suggest getting one that has a flexible neck. The Fischer 98 Magnetic Pro is an excellent racquet for this. Good balance, good weight, flexibility with power and one of the best "feel" in a racquet that is as forgiving as the Fischer.
