We've got a D1 player that is in our 4.5 doubles group. He is average in our group - then again he quit tennis for 15 years; he'll be back. He played at NM State. He tried to self rate at 4.5 but the computer made him a 5.5. Honestly is a 4.5 today. He called USTA and argued but the best they could do is make him a 5.0....

Thats what happened to me the year before I started playing tour. I tried to self rate at 4.5 and it made me a 5.5 because of my rankings.

And those two draws resulted in first round 6-0 6-0 losses... that won't get it done. Where did they come from?

This Garcia kid is 24... only 1 yr removed. His game is sharp right now. He plays in my doubles league and is winning this go around... he will make a nice addition to the 5.0 team for sure.
He is always dangerous but had not put together a good 13 week season until now.
I had another d1 buddy play on a 4.5 team while he was still in Davis. Holmsey was part of my club's 2 nationals runs in a row. They won it the second yr. I would never beat this kid in a singles match. He was a really good 4.5 but stuff like that happens
