Permalink Reply by Tim Prapong on April 24, 2011 at 10:56pm Dude, I haven't been on this site because my mother's house is foreclosed and I am desperately trying to find her a place to live. So cool to have such doubting toms attacking me.
Well, my family problems are irrelevant to the discussion. I don't really care. John is a self admitted sandbagger and if I remember correctly, you were a good player on your high school team. But if that's the case, personally, I'd only want to play 4.5 or more with that background.
I don't personally believe you should rate according to the competition of sandbaggers present. This is what warps the intended original narrative description of what a 5.5 is:
""This player is able to execute all strokes offensively and defensively; can hit first serves for winners and second serves to set up an offensive situation; plays well enough to be a top performer at the state high school championship level; is skilled enough to play college tennis on top Division II & III teams.""
Well, Mike, I do play with a former Division II college player every weekend and I am better than him. No, John, I never said being able to execute passing shots down the alley off a hard serve with my one hander against Sabrina Santamaria makes me a 5.5. Mike, you can play humble and proud all rolled in one, but it only makes me think you're a sandbagger like John Spoerl.
The only reason I said I was confused is because John said someone else was #2. You're defensive by attacking me for what I think I am. Real cool. Judging from your pictures and form, I believe you are a 4.5. But nevertheless, I don't send out an accusation and then back it up with a hidden observer.
Honestly, Mark, I wasn't used to your ball because I had been hitting against a heavier, deeper ball. If you think I am 4.5 or that you are even with me I can live with that. But I believe differently. I told you I was not a big fan of playing "21", but that to me, is not a valid gauge. For instance, I was able to beat Decker on 21 by 21-15, but when we played a set, I lost 3-6. I believe Decker is better than me for sure, but I have great points with him and I can learn from him strategically and technically.
No hard feelings Mike. Just think about how you reacted. That's all. I wasn't attacking you by disbelieving your ranking. All I said was I was confused. Big whoops.
