I hate playing on public courts with loud obnoctious people beside me...

There's nothing more annoying than people yelling and screaming on the court next to you.  I understand doubles is fun and all, but for goodness sakes, have some respect for the people playing around you!  Even more annoying is people not waiting until the point is over before walking across the court.  I also hate the fact of balls rolling into the court in the middle of a great rally.  Sorry, I just had to vent.

Hey, that's the public court scene. At least you're not next to the freeway too. You forgot to mention babies running off trying to take balls, under the "cutie clause". lol

People walking across the court during a point? You mean like at the net or? I've never seen that! Fire a shot their way next time. I'm sure they'll get the hint.

Ball rolls on the court? Gotta call a let. Last thing you'd want is to step on it and twist your ankle or worse. It can be a bummer though depending if you're up or down in the point  ;)  I hate it though when you know the people next to you are total beginners and it just keeps happening.....oh well, we were all there at one point.

Actually, I meant walking behind the baseline during a point.  Ya, we always take the point over if a ball rolls on the court.  Beginners next to you are the worst, spraying balls all over the place.  I have to admit though, tonight we were the loud and annoying people on the court.  Doubles is so much fun, I guess it's easy to get caught up in the moment.  Doubles is much more social, where as singles is more of a chess game.
Hmm, I think of doubles as the chess game. Singles as the checkers game. At least, that's what Ardo told me at the Burbank Tennis Center. It makes sense.
I never speak when I play chess.  More of a mind battle for me.  That's interesting, I would put it exactly opposite, checkers doubles, chess singles.  That's just me IMO.  :)
Well, I do. I go, "Hmm, interesting!" or "So that's what you want, eh?". Or "We'll see about that."
I understand it and I have the same pet peeve. But one day changed it for me. I was training with my dad, just hitting balls cross court and down the line as he fed me balls from the service line and there were a lot of noisy people that day and suddenly it got really quiet but I didn't look up, I just kept on working on my strokes. Then when the basket was empty I looked up and the people were lined up at the fence watching me, hahaha...
You must be really good!  :)  That's a good way to shut them up! hahaha
Sounds like you were playing at Dougherty High. Poorly designed should have put some entrance gates at the far ends. Did I see you hitting with Sean Ko.
Hahaha yup!  I am usually at Dougherty High 3-4 times a week.  And yes, I was hitting with Sean on Saturday for a couple of hours after I played 3 sets with a buddy.  We are supposed to hit tomorrow evening as well.  We need a 4th!  Care to join?
sorry can't make it have class at JFK, I was down in the corner sat. working with one my kids, 8yr old who's coming long nicely.

noise level, got to expect that playing on public courts buddy..  it should get you the first few times but the noise should become part of the background so you adjust to be able to block it off.  learn to play through it, once mastered then you can smile when you notice that you're opponent is getting affected.

now i know which courts to take you if we play an important singles match..in case i need the additional help.  kidding.
