I just got back from playing in a tournament in Yuba City. It's REALLY hot up there! This is the first time I've ever experienced FULL body cramps! Holy @*&^$%!!...that was the WORST pain I've EVER felt in my life! I was cramping in my quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, neck, back, abdomens, forearms, fingers, feet, and toes. And all at once! I wanted to die at that very moment! Luckily, it happened after my second match of the day. I was hopelessly stuck, in excruciating pain, stiff in one position for about an hour an a half. Gatorade, water, and potassium pills are never enough. Especially, if you sweat as much as I do! I would never wish that kind of pain on anyone. Make sure you all REHYDRATE the night before AND DURING any tournament! Take lots of potassium pills, QUININE PILLS, SODIUM SUPPLEMENTS, AND SOME ELECTROLYTE SUPPLEMENTS! IT'S HOT OUR THERE PEOPLE..
STAY WELL HYDRATED MY FRIENDS!!!!!

Sorry to hear that Mike! That sounds like the worst possible pain. I had much less pain in the form of an inner thigh cramp after eating at Carl's Jr. resting from a couple doubles matches in the hot sun. I was hating life for sure because I didn't drink enough during the games.
How many pills does one need though? One for every muscle? j/k
Ya, It wasn't fun Tim. For some odd reason, I sweat freakishly more than others, which leads to faster loss of sodium, electrolytes, and just I just dehydrate much faster. Unfortunately, water and Gatorade alone isn't enough for me. Normally, I'd be fine. I just think the Sacramento heat got to me. Not to mention, I was playing with every ounce of energy and power that I had. I've played three 2 1/2 hours matches in one day before and only had leg cramps(not full body cramps). Before my matches on Saturday, I took 4 Potassium pills, ate a Banana, drank lots of water and Gatorade before and during both matches, and also ate Shot Blocks(3x the sodium). After all that, I experienced the full body cramps as soon as I finished my second match. The next day,(Sunday) I was sore all over from all the cramps! I had 2 more matches to play still. I took 6 Potassium pills, 4 Quinine pills, ate a banana, and drank lots of Gatorade and water before and during both matches. I still experienced light back and abdominal cramps during the Finals! So, If I ever go to Sacramento for any other tournaments, I think 2 pills for every muscle should suffice! lol I'm still sore. :( BTW I won this tournament. :)
Dang, sorry to hear about the injuries..but WOW! That's truly impressive!
We used to play tennis til 2 and 3 am when I was a teen. I'll never forget one night We started at 7pm and played til 230am. I only had about a pint of water to drink within that entire period, and I have hyperhidrosis (didn't know it at the time). Long story short, 3 minutes from my house, I felt the twinge in my leg and prayed for it not to take over, but it did, and I had to hurry and pull over and make an awkward and abrupt stop and try to stand up, but that made my back and neck cramp. So I'm leaning on my door halfway in the car, halfway out, car halfway in the middle of the road and I was stuck like that for over an hour. My phone kept going off (mom was lookin' for me and worried) but everytime I tried to bend down to get my phone I'd cramp up again...then I had to throw up. thats why the entire body became one big charlie horse and I fell down on the floor. Places I didn't even know could cramp were cramping.....the worst pain of my life....
My son gets these cramps often has been to Duke Medical Center for special studies cuz they are so severe and believe it or not he keeps a jar of pickles and drinks the juice and it prevents the cramps or during and they ease up..
