I've been playing and dealing with plantar fasciitis for over a year now.  Has anyone had a cortizone shot before?  What can I do about this?

Boy, you always ask questions that have bad answers. Most of the time rest, rest rest. Also may need orthopedic insoles, different shoes. I had heel problem with Barricades and switched back to Nike shoes, no problems since.

I'd visit as podiatrist and spend some money on custom made insoles.  :-)  cortizone shots weakens tendons and thins out fatty tissue which cushions your feet. good idea to limit activities that makes it worse.  otherwise you'd be in a hard boot for 4 to 6 weeks.  coming up with all kinds of joint problems...  you got arthris in your family MD?

No family history of arthritis.  When I wake up in the morning or the middle of the night, I can barely walk.  It's pretty bad.  I did go see a podiatrist a while ago and he tried to get me on some custom orthopedic insoles for over $400.  I said forget that!  I've been using Superfeet insoles which help a little, but nothing seems to be helping my heel pain at all.
REST REST REST, My heal problem was caused mostly from playing hoops, stop playings hoops and rest and been much much better
Yes, its bad. I stayed off of the court for 4 weeks and got great inserts for my shoes. I also rolled my foot over a frozen 20 oz coke bottle every night. Its no fun at all.
ahh the ol frozen bottle, I tried the night boot, but that was a pain...

i wonder if avoiding the hardcourts and just playing on clay help plantar fasciitis? hmm..

well out here in Cali not much choice 99.9% hard courts, but basketball courts are softer that tennis courts still pretty prevalent, just like tennis elbow Mike's body is saying give me time out buddy.
I have had that before, it is crazy painful. Never took the shot though. Just did lots of stretching excercizes and flexing with the feet, and wore good ortho insoles for awhile and it went away. If you know someone that suffers from tennis elbow though i have found a sure fire way to get rid of it.
